A Very Merry Christmas

A belated Merry Christmas to all of our dear family and friends who are reading this.  We had a truly magical Christmas in Austin (although we missed the Varner clan in Tucson so much).  Ava Grace enjoyed all of the lights and she wasn't too concerned about the tree or the packages under it.

At Christmas Eve church service, she did a great job, especially considering that it kept her up an hour late.  She started "singing" at the top of her lungs (some may call it yelling, but it really is just the way she "talks") each time we sang and it amused the congregation.

Getting ready for church

Before she went to bed, she got to open one toy.  This would have been enough excitement for her for one Christmas, but she had no clue how much more stuff would be awaiting her in the morning!

Case in point: this is all for Ava Grace.  Santa clearly made a stop here!

It took her a while to take it all in

Thanks to daddy for helping her unwrap each gift

"Singing" with excitement (again, some may argue it's yelling, but it's too sweet to be anything but angelic)

More singing...

And we kept adding fun accessories as she opened them.  Note the new hat and tutu!

Finally came the quintessential box, which she was, of course, enthralled with!

Loved the packing peanuts more than the gift :)

After Christmas dinner, she helped Horst make his famous German wine, where rum is poured over the sugar cone into a pot of deliciously prepared red wine.  She loved the flames the rum threw off of the sugar... but not as much as she loved Horst's beard!

We ended (her) night with hanging out by the fire place.  It truly was a magical day and we feel so truly blessed.

Happy New Year to everyone from the three of us!
